Just like on social media, there are trending boudoir photography themes that we see regularly. Although I am not one to follow traditional boudoir trends, there are some trends we’ve seen this year that we absolutely love.

As artists and photographers get to adopt different styles that suit their vision best. The best photographers help their clients to feel amazing through their appointment and beyond. Trending Boudoir We Love #1: Growing Up is a Trap

It’s been said a thousand times, but it’s the truth–growing up is a trap. I’ve seen a lot of talk recently about how children learn about their insecurities. They are not born with them. With that in mind, there are a lot of conversations around being the person little you wished you would become when you were tiny. Sure, we can’t all become actors or marine biologists, but a girl can pretend, you feel me?

So, if you wanted to be in on the Mob Wife trend, with the gaudy glitz and glam, sprinkled in with a little haughty attitude and confidence, then you have found your aesthetic! The best way to reignite the spark of your childhood imagination is to dive in and have fun. So sneak away to your favorite search engine and start detailing your imagination. 

Play and imagination are about letting go of control and getting into an appropriate mindset to enjoy it. Being playful helps decrease cortisol, increase serotonin, and builds an overall better daily mindset. What are you waiting for?

Trending Boudoir #2: Lingerie Trends We Love at GFE

I am notoriously picky about lingerie. I will never recommend a babydoll or a bralette as a boudoir trend. Why? Because some trending boudoir themes are not for everybody. Though, admittedly, there are some trends I used to despise that are growing on me. But some of the best lingerie out there are timeless pieces in colors that compliment your complexion. Yes, you can choose neutral colors like blacks and whites, but if you want to step it up a notch, choose your lingerie to match the aesthetic of our boudoir studio.

Lingerie we’re currently loving are longline bras, basic bodysuits (especially with an under wire), satin lingerie, sheer body suits over bras, mixed texture/fabric items, and seamless panties. Now that is it officially Spring and moving into summer, we still love a good sutle pink and pastel trend for boudoir. It’s also a great time to snag a gift card for the person in your life who may want a boudoir shoot of their own.

Did you know there is a way we can incorporate social media trends into boudoir sessions? One that we’re having fun with is the Mob Wife aesthetic. Being Pittsburgh natives means we’re having a great time leaning into the hair, the make-up, the attitude, and, of course, the gaudy coats and jewelry of the mob wife aesthetic. But can you imagine what the mob wife aesthetic looks like stripped down?
