Planning for Your Boudoir Photoshoot: Just Trust Us

Boudoir Photography

Planning for your boudoir photoshoot can be overwhelming. You want to hire the right boudoir photographer who will not only capture you in all your beauty but also make you comfortable being so vulnerable in front of the camera lens.

Ah, trust. That elusive, uncontrollable act that breaks many of us into hives. We’ve all had experiences where our trust has been broken, or maybe we didn’t do enough research on a product or experience, and now our purchases come along with a bucket load of research. Let us help to ease some of your worries.

Especially with something like getting naked in front of strangers.

If you’re unfamiliar with The Girlfriend Experience, it’s normal to question what makes us experts. In addition to boudoir and erotic photography, we have over a decade of experience. What sets us apart isn’t just the quality of our photographs but also the journey. If you’re looking for transformative, self-healing, radical acceptance, the GFE is your studio.

You don’t have to just take us at face value. We encourage you to browse our portfolio, our journal, and look at our reviews online to see what The Girlfriend Experience offers. We want you to feel empowered and safe behind our lens’. However, now that you’re ready to book, maybe you’re looking for more information on how you should plan out your photoshoot.

That’s where we come in. We want you to feel comfortable and love your images. So, we want to help you not only just trust us but prep to be your best possible self for your boudoir photoshoot.

Boudoir Photoshoot Prep #1: Let’s Get to Know Each Other

If you’re uncomfortable with your nudity, getting undressed in front of strangers is intimidating. We understand. To honor your bravery, we’ve worked hard to streamline the process as much as possible. But sometimes, you might have questions we haven’t answered specifically on our website or our social media pages. Your questions are valid, and if you can’t find an answer, we’re here to help

Once the contract is signed, your deposit is paid, and you’ve booked your appointment, you’ll receive an email with the next steps. Over the years, we’ve photographed hundreds of people. Whether it’s for weddings, personal gifts, self-confidence, fun, or anything else, we have immense respect for the trust you put in us. In return, we try to ensure we cover everything to make the process simple for you.

Boudoir Photoshoot Prep #2: Bringing the Right Gear

Do you have a certain piece of lingerie that you are dying to wear? Of course, we want you to bring it along with you. Every item you bring with you should be something you feel comfortable in, flattered by, and enjoy wearing. Because if you put on an item and debate if it works for you, the time we have to shoot will be limited. And sometimes, the items you choose may not photograph well, and we’ll let you know that as well. If you’re still unsure, we’ve put together a little quiz for you here

We understand that some of our clients prefer to gain courage through the liquid variety. But please know your limits. Alcohol flush and drunk expressions are hard to edit out of your photographs. Your time (and ours) is valuable, and we want you to have the best experience you can when you leave our studio. Plus, we want you to love your photos.

Boudoir Photoshoot Prep #3: Pre-shoot Skincare Prep

By this point, you know how important it is to drink water and stay hydrated for glowing skin. But did you know hydration also helps reduce fine lines and bloating?

You don’t need a fancy or expensive skincare routine to have a valuable experience at The Girlfriend Experience. Though taking care of your body and your skin will have long-term benefits beyond your experience once you walk through our doors. Make sure that in the week leading up to your shoot, you’re drinking plenty of water, stretching, maybe taking an Advil, and getting lots of sleep to reduce under-eye bags and darkness. If you plan to outsource and get a facial or wax, book your appointments 3-4 days before your session.

Last, don’t forget the power of a good scrub. This will cleanse your pores, get rid of dry skin, and leave your skin looking radiant. Don’t forget to moisturize after, as well. Moisturizing can help curate that beautiful glowy and dewy skin look that you many want for your big day. Your skin will look the best it ever has on photoshoot day. Pedicures are great, too. Considering your feet will be in your photos, you definitely want to take care of those calluses and dry skin.

Boudoir Photoshoot Day Has Finally Arrived

This is where the Just Trust Us comes in. You’ve made it through our doors with your bag. Your hair is clean and ready to be styled. You’re definitely ready for professional makeup and to meet Steff. And this is where we shine.

From the moment you walk in the door, we want you to feel pampered. After all, when you book with The Girlfriend Experience, our goal is to make you comfortable, to ensure we feel like a good friend, and finally, to give you the experience of decadent luxury. In addition to beautiful photos, you’ll have a truly unforgettable experience.

You’re gonna love it. We cannot wait to work with you.
