Fox Chapel is a borough located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It is situated 6 miles northeast of downtown Pittsburgh. The borough is continually garnering national prominence and is home to many wealthy and powerful patriciate families.
As of the 2020 census, the population was 5,343.
In the 1750s, the Seneca Indians lived in the region. Until the late 18th century, American Indian tribes hunted and fished in the general Fox Chapel area. Virginia and Pennsylvania both claimed the territory. The dispute was not resolved until after the Revolutionary War. Today, less than 1% of its population is Native American.

Schools
Public education is provided by the Fox Chapel Area School District at the Shady Side Academy upper school. The high school is located in O'Hara Township, five miles to the north of the borough in Indiana Township. The middle school is located in Dorseyville in a small village five miles away. Elementary school students attend classes in Indiana Township of O'Hara Township.
O'Hara Elementary, Kerr, Fairview, and Hartwood are the schools of Fox Chapel Area School District, which includes the towns of Aspinwall, Fox Chapel, Indiana Township, O'Hara Township, Sharpsburg, and Blawnox. Fox Chapel Area School District has been recognized with numerous academic awards over the years.
Each of the schools have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. News & World Report, and Fox's school was awarded Silver Medal status.
Fox Chapel is home to Shady Side Academy, a co-educational independent college preparatory school with four facilities for a kindergarten, pre-kindergarten, grades one through five, and junior school. Shady Side Academy was previously known as Fox Chapel Country Day School.
Shady Side Academy has run a middle school in Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania, since the early 1920s, when it moved its upper school from downtown Shady Side. The middle school campus was added later, due to the Academy's 1958 purchase of an estate built in 1928.
