Mid-Year Self Care Check In: Fall in Love with Life Again

Hey GFE Babes! It’s officially June. We’re half way through the year already!
This week I wanted to take a moment to write out a mid-year self care check-in.
So, How are you? Truly. Are you taking care of yourself as you should be?
Or are you burnt out as can be even only half way through the year already?
Whether you are thriving or just surviving, we wanted to take the time to remind you to give yourself a mid-year self care check-in. Self-care check-ins are all about you. And they don’t have to be mid-year or yearly. You can create them to meet a schedule that works for you.
However, checking in with how you are should be a requirement in order to ensure better overall mental health. It’s vital in order to keep your own cup filled. It allows you to take the time to recharge your own batteries when you have used them all on everybody else already. In this post, we’re going to help you with a few tips to give yourself mid-year self care check-in and get back to being the badass babe that you are!
Start With The Basics And Build From It
Let’s get real here…. Life can get frankly, busy. A lot of times most of us are busy being parents, employees, sisters, friends, entrepreneurs, CEO, general human beings, or whatever identity resonates with you can still be exhausting. We are always on the go and focusing on caring for others and doing all the things that we never stop to ensure we’re even meeting our own basic needs.
While we can title this section, “start with the basics and build from it”, sometimes it’s valuable to stop and remind ourselves of the importance of our basic needs. Also, it’s valid to know that many times the basic needs for one person may differ from another entirely. For instance, if you have been working long hours and not taking breaks for too long you will end up burning yourself more quickly. Not taking the time to sleep, bathe, clothe, or nourish yourself (and yes this nourishment can include a good orgasm) can also deteriorate your mental and physical health far more rapidly.
So it’s highly important to create and take the time to make sure you are filling your own cup up first successfully instead of constantly staying busy and doing all the things. If you struggle to understand what you may need, tune into your body more to see what it needs. Mostly, because when you take care of your mind and give it the self care it needs then that can also ensure your body is able to run at full steam.
Re-evaluate Your Boundaries
Setting healthy boundaries and re-evaluating them regularly should be an essential aspect of self-care. If in life, there are often many roles and duties we cannot say no to. However, learning to say “no” to commitments and activities that you have the ability to say no to and that you know will overwhelm or drain you can be essential to preserving your energy.
Asking yourself questions such as “what is draining me mentally?” or “why am I having trouble sleeping?” can be great to understand when you are overdoing things. Prioritizing your needs and allocating the time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation can be key. By setting boundaries, you create space for self-care and maintain a healthy work-life balance, ultimately improving your overall mental and physical well-being.
Practice Mindfulness & Relaxation Techniques
In today’s fast-paced world, stress and anxiety can become part of our daily lives. This can happen even when we are just overdoing everything. Therefore, it’s important to take some time out for yourself to relax and practice mindfulness. Essentially mindfulness affords you the goal of being present in the moment and paying attention to our thoughts, feelings, and surroundings without judgment. It allows us to focus on our thoughts while reducing our anxiety and worry. One way to practice mindfulness and relaxation is to practice deep breathing exercises, meditation, or guided imagery. These practices can reduce stress, increase self-awareness, and improve mental clarity.
Fall in Love with Life by Investing in Yourself Regularly
Investing in yourself should be seen as an integral part of any solid self-care routine. As the saying goes, you cannot pour from an empty cup. Therefore, it’s important to sure your cup is full in order to be able to be the best version of yourself and be able to give back to others your life regularly.
Whether you decided that you need a massage, vacation, spa retreat, or just time alone with a good book, making the time to invest in time with yourself should be key. Other great ways to invest in yourself can be practicing journaling and mediation as often as what works for your schedule currently.
Investing in yourself allows you to discover your true potential and unlock new opportunities in yourself you didn’t think you could explore previously. It gives you the confidence and skills to pursue your dreams and aspirations. It also enhances your resilience and ability to overcome challenges more successfully. So make sure to check in with yourself lately because you deserve it!
